Church Accessibility

We are well equipped to cater for the needs of people with accessibility issues.

The Accessibility page has information on:

Our Worship

Forms of worship

Worship at all our services is based on the liturgy of the Scottish Episcopal Church , which is part of the Anglican communion. Within that framework we enjoy a wide variety of services from traditional to less formal, from quiet and reflective to active and (sometimes) noisy. Our hope is that everyone who chooses to worship with us will find a form of service at which they feel at "home" and which helps them to meet God in the company of others. The notes below provide a guide to our regular services which may be helpful if you are thinking of worshipping with us, even occasionally.

Summary of services

1st Sunday of each month

Other Sundays

Thursdays

After the 10:30 or 10.45 service there will be tea & coffee in the Threshold to which everyone is very welcome (access via the south door). Most Sundays there is also a Fairtrade stall.

Sung Eucharist

This is our main service, which takes place at 10.30 every Sunday except the first Sunday of each month. It uses the Scottish Liturgy published in 1982 and is enhanced by music, hymns and often an anthem from our choir. During this service there is a creche for younger children and activities for older children, which take place in separate rooms  just to the side of the main worship area. All children join the congregation for communion. The service is followed by tea or coffee in the Threshold centre next door to the church.

Holy Communion (Sunday)

At 8.30am each Sunday there is a said service of Holy Communion using the liturgy from the Scottish Prayer Book. This is a quieter, more traditional and reflective service with no sermon.

Holy Communion (Thursday)

At 11.00am each Thursday a group gathers in the Lady Chapel for a said service of Holy Communion. This is an intimate, reflective and traditional service, using the liturgy from the Scottish Prayer Book. It is followed by tea or coffee in the Church room and a time of informal fellowship.

Sung Matins

This takes place at 9.30am on the first Sunday of each month and uses the liturgy from the Scottish Prayer Book, including a sermon. Matins is a traditional form of non-Eucharistic worship that holds a special place in some people's hearts. The music is led by our choir, using traditional Anglican chants for the psalm and canticles.

Alive for Christ

This is our informal Family Service, which takes place at 10.45am on the first Sunday of each month and includes Communion. We follow a simple liturgy and generally choose hymns that appeal to the younger members of our church family. We encourage children and adults of all ages to participate in this service. The creche room is available for use by those with very small children; it is a matter of personal choice whether to use the room or stay in the main church.

Evensong

This takes place (with occasional exceptions) on the third Sunday of each month at 6.00pm. This is another quiet, reflective evening service with music led by the choir and using Anglican chants for the psalm and canticles. The liturgy is from the Scottish Prayer Book, usually including a short sermon or reflection.

Home Communion

Home communion is available for members of the congregation who are unable to join us in church due to sickness or infirmity; please contact the clergy or wardens if you wish this to be arranged.
