September Cafe Church

On Wednesday 11th September at Cafe Church we heard about all that is involved in volunteering at ‘Starter Packs’. As many of you will be aware there is a box at the back of the church for appropriate items that can be taken to the depot for sorting into packs. Thank you to everyone who supports Cafe Church.

Silent Auction Update

The Silent Auction on Friday 6th September was a great success. There were a number of sought after items where the bidding was fierce. Along with the wine, cheese etc. there was also cake as we celebrated a wedding anniversary too. The total raised for church funds was £1,721.50p with Gift Aid to be added which will take the total over £2,000. Thanks are due to all those who contributed to the evening.

Silent Auction

This Friday 6th September at 7.30pm a ‘Silent Auction’ is taking place in the Threshold. Tickets are £10 and most folk attending have a ticket already. There are a wide range of talents on offer and many other donations of goods are up for grabs. To help with making decisions with a bid there is wine and cheese. All the proceeds from the evening are going towards church funds.

Words of war book festival

The Words of War Book Festival that is to be held at The Black Watch Museum in Perth on the 21st/22nd September 2019, see link below. The Book Festival builds on the very successful lecture programme that the Museum has been hosting for the last 5 years. They have a fabulous selection of authors all of whom write on different aspects of war. From the Jacobite’s to the Cold War, military and humanitarian stories, there is something for everyone.

Words of War Book Festival

There will be a talk by Mary Miller about her book Jane Haining: A life of Love and Courage. The Moderator of the General Assemble of The Church of Scotland referred to Mary’s book in his opening address in May. The Black Watch Museum is a registered charity and all monies raised from the book festival will go to support our charitable objectives.

Thanks go to Professor Sir Hew Strachan FBA FRS, Patron of Words of War, Tippermuir Books Ltd, Perth’s not for profit publishers, and our sponsors for their help and support with this new e vent.
