St Johns Prayer Group – Mondays 3pm - 4pm
A small group meets every Monday in the Lady Chapel to pray together. We believe that group prayer has a power of its own to help those we pray for as well as helping, strengthening and inspiring us in our private prayers.
We meet at 3.00 pm and usually begin with a short formal prayer, lighting a candle to remind us that we are turning quietly towards God. Each week we share our thoughts about people and situations that need God's presence and our prayers. We also share our private thoughts and experiences about prayer. This may be a simple musing about something we have read during the week or it may be a description of something we find difficult or a way in which God has spoken to us. Everything that we discuss is kept fully confidential within the group.
We move into a short period of silence when we each remember before God the people and situations that need our prayers. This is followed by a few minutes of reflective music and another more formal prayer, ending at 4.00 pm.
We all find great benefit in this quiet time together. We welcome anyone who would like to join us, whether regularly or occasionally.
