Our Bring and Share Lunch - 31st January 2010

In recent years the 'bring and share' lunch has become a popular event at St Johns, providing an opportunity for the congregation to socialise and get to know each other better in relaxed surroundings. These are very informal events with no fuss or ceremony; we simply all bring food, share it out and eat a meal together after our main Sunday service. In addition to a more lavish lunch at Harvest, we share lunch in this way at regular intervals through the year.

Our first 'bring and share' lunch in 2010 took place at the end of January. Many of us had faced difficulties getting out and about in the first half of the month following heavy snowfalls which left roads and pavements treacherous for some time. We were certainly glad of the opportunity to enjoy the company and catch up on each others' news. There was plenty of food and drink to share, with some left over afterwards. Tea and coffee were available for those who were unable to stay and share the meal, and also provided a pleasant end to our lunch. Cash donations on the day totalled £68, which will go to our church restoration fund.
